Recognition of international Non-Government organization’s (INGOs) contributions in VietNam

On November 14th, 2010, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) held a ceremony in recognition of INGOs’ contributions to Vietnam for 2010. This event took place on the occasion of the 60thYear Anniversary of the VUFO (November 17, 1950- November 17, 2010).
Attending the ceremony were Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Central Party Committee Member, Minister of Labor, Invalid and Social Affairs, Mr. Vu Xuan Hong, President of VUFO, Mrs. Ha Thi Lien, Vice President of The Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Mr. Nguyen Minh Kien, President of PACCOM and representatives of several ministries, central agencies and INGOs operating in Vietnam.
Currently there are about 700 INGOs operating in Vietnam in the fields of social and economic development, health-care, education, poverty reduction, post-war consequences, relief and natural calamities. They also help convey information on Vietnam, its people, culture, policies as well as achievement to the world.
The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations is a social political organization - in charge of mobilizing and gathering classes of people struggling for peace and development, expanding solidarity and friendship relations, promoting cooperation between the Vietnamese people with the peoples of other countries and foreign non-governmental organizations. Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations is a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The People’s Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM) is a component of VUFO with the responsibility to license the INGOs operating in Vietnam.
